AFSR Classes, Workshops, Memberships

Group adult classes (18+) are taught in French by a native-fluent instructor in an inclusive, interactive setting. The classes emphasize oral and written comprehension and production. Themed classes and workshops hone in on specific linguistic and cultural skills. Textbooks and course materials are either provided by the instructor or can be obtained online or at bookstores (info to be provided for each course).

In-person class! This class is intended for those students who already have a good grasp of the basics and are seeking to improve their listening comprehension and conversational fluency. The short films will either be subtitled or transcribed in French and cover a range of mostly contemporary subjects. In addition to watching at home, class preparation will include comprehension and interpretive questions. Our classes depend upon minimum enrollment to run. (B1+ Level)

2025 Assemblée Générale Dinner at Hook & Ladder Winery

We invite all Alliance Française of Santa Rosa / Sonoma Wine Country members to our annual all-members meeting, Assemblée Générale! Join all for a welcome reception in the Barrel Room at Hook & Ladder Winery, followed by the meeting and a family-style dinner. Let’s share a toast to the past year and exchange ideas for new events and class themes for the year ahead. Also, members we will elect* our Board of Directors for the next term. Conversation for Advanced Beginners A2 with Valerie | 26Sp | In-Person | Wednesday 10–11:30am

Tuition: $240 (8 weeks) / $225 (7 weeks)

In-Person class. This is an ongoing class for students with proficiency of A1 level curriculum. Conversation for advanced beginners will sharpen communication skills in everyday situations, building on skills previously learned by formal studies or french immersion. Students practice dialogues, learn how to use current practical expressions, improve pronunciation and use correct grammar. Basic knowledge of common verb tenses are expected, such as the past and future tenses, as well as a good foundation of vocabulary. Mastery of French grammar is ongoing. This class will help students learn to interact in French culture in a fun and engaging atmosphere, whether it be for travel, work, or personal enrichment. Our classes depend upon minimum enrollment. (A2 Level) Please contact the School Director for additional questions on correct placement in beginning classes.
