• Cinéma Matinée: Nouvelle Vague (2025)

  On March 18, the AFSR Cine-Club will present an in-person screening of the 2025 film Nouvelle Vague, directed by American Richard Linklater, in French with subtitles. It's a wonderfully imagined parachute into the 20 days of the making of Jean-Luc Godard's groundbreaking 1959 film Breathless (A bout de souffle). A bilingual discussion will follow the free screening.

  L'élégance du Hérisson (The Elegance of the Hedgehog) is a novel by the French novelist and philosophy teacher Muriel Barbery. The book follows events in the life of a concierge, Renée Michel, whose deliberately concealed intelligence is uncovered by an unstable but intellectually precocious girl named Paloma Josse.
