AFSR Classes, Workshops, Memberships

Group adult classes (18+) are taught in French by a native-fluent instructor in an inclusive, interactive setting. The classes emphasize oral and written comprehension and production. Themed classes and workshops hone in on specific linguistic and cultural skills. Textbooks and course materials are either provided by the instructor or can be obtained online or at bookstores (info to be provided for each course).

  • 2025 Assemblée Générale Dinner at Hook & Ladder Winery

    We invite all Alliance Française of Santa Rosa / Sonoma Wine Country members to our annual all-members meeting, Assemblée Générale! Join all for a welcome reception in the Barrel Room at Hook & Ladder Winery, followed by the meeting and a family-style dinner.     Jane for Tea at the Bennett Valley Grange Hall

    In-Person class! This is an ongoing class for students with a strong base of level 1 curriculum, who are starting to work in the past tense. Conversation for advanced beginners aims to sharpen communication skills in Everyday Situations by learning the building blocks of the language.  Students practice dialogues to introduce themselves, ask questions, make purchases, and enjoy the culture and challenges of everyday life. Use of current practical expressions, correct pronunciation, grammar, and cultural know-how are stressed, focusing on a communicative approach to the language. This class will help students learn to enjoy and interact in the French culture, whether it be for travel, work, or personal pursuits. Our classes depend upon minimum enrollment. Dialogue and listening activities are stressed and students read short stories to expand their vocabulary, grammar and comprehension.This class will help students learn to enjoy and interact in the French culture, whether it be for travel, work, or personal pursuits.     In-person class! This class is intended for those students who already have a good grasp of the basics and are seeking to improve their listening comprehension and conversational fluency. The short films will either be subtitled or transcribed in French and cover a range of mostly contemporary subjects. Gigi is qualified to offer test prep for the DELF/DALF exams. Although AFSR isn't an official exam center and you have to go to AF San Francisco to take the exam, you can prepare for it with Gigi at your own pace through private tutoring. Gigi coaches students to understand the exam format, practice the 4 core skills (listen, read, write, speak) and provides strategies on time management and exam strategies to succeed.
