Mill Valley Film Festival Film and Discussion – Thursday, October 13 at 2:30 pm

We hope you can join us for an afternoon of film and discussion in San Rafael, Marin County!

We will begin by attending the North American Premiere screening of a French film at the 45th Mill Valley Film Festival in San Rafael, followed by an in-person discussion at a nearby cafe. The film we will see is Our Brothers, directed by Rachid Bouchareb, a selection at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The fiction film is based on the gripping true story of the murders of two Muslim men in Paris in 1986, and the follow-up investigation instigated by the families of the victims.

To participate, please read this entire post.

1. Please purchase your own tickets to the film at the Mill Valley Film Festival website. Make sure to select the October 13 screening of Our Brothers at 3:00 pm at the Rafael 1 (it is also playing the evening before). Tickets are $16.50 general, $15.00 for seniors, $8.00 for students. Here is the link for tickets:

2. Once you have bought your tickets, please let us know you are coming and whether you want to attend the post-film discussion at a cafe in San Rafael, by emailing us at cineclub@afsantarosa.org. Please include your name and mobile phone number in case we need to contact you on the day of the event, and a preference for the type of venue for our post-film discussion: we can go to either a coffee house, a French restaurant (with a full dinner menu), or a Chinese restaurant all within a 3 minute walk of the theater. I will be in touch will everyone who RSVPs on Friday, October 8 to nail down the after-film plans.

3. After purchasing tickets, make sure to arrive at the Rafael Theater, 1118 4th Street at A Street, San Rafael, to be on the ticket holder line for Our Brothers on Thursday, October 13, no later than 2:30 pm (usually audiences are admitted to the theater 15 or 20 minutes prior to the starting time of 3:00 pm).

Face masks are required to be worn for all the festival’s screenings except when actively eating or drinking. Proof of vaccination is not required. Visit https://mvff.com/covid for more in-depth information.

When you get to the line (either on 4th or A Street–ask a festival volunteer for the Our Brothers line), look for me–Peter Zingg–I will be wearing a blue beret! If you need to contact me on the day of the event, please call me at ‪(415) 991-1023‬.

Thanks for your interest in French film and the Alliance Française de Santa Rosa. I look forward to seeing you in San Rafael!
