AFSR Classes, Workshops, Memberships

Group adult classes (18+) are taught in French by a native-fluent instructor in an inclusive, interactive setting. The classes emphasize oral and written comprehension and production. Themed classes and workshops hone in on specific linguistic and cultural skills. Textbooks and course materials are either provided by the instructor or can be obtained online or at bookstores (info to be provided for each course).

  • Join us for a cooking class at Maison Porcella in Windsor with Chef de cuisine Marc-Henri Jean-Baptiste. The ticket price includes a 3-hour cooking class and a 1-hour dégustation afterwards, with one glass of wine. Class is limited to 12 students! Menu:

This is an ongoing class for beginners in the 2nd part of a 4 part course which teaches students to communicate immediately in Everyday Situations by learning the building blocks of the language.  Students practice dialogues to introduce themselves, ask questions, make purchases, and enjoy the culture and challenges of everyday life. Use of current practical expressions, correct pronunciation, grammar, and cultural know-how are stressed, focusing on a communicative approach to the language. This class will help students learn to enjoy and interact in the French culture, whether it be for travel, work, or personal pursuits.     “Exploration de Contes, poèmes et chansons” (B2): This class is designed to inspire students of advanced intermediate French to deepen their knowledge of the French language and culture through a lively combination of the short story, poetry, and music.  Selections are chosen to introduce students to a variety of poets from La Fontaine to Jacques Prévert and an example of the short story from the writer Alphonse Daudet.  Songs of poetic value will also be included. Materials will be provided by the instructor.
