    In-person class. This is the 6th in a series of Beginner classes at the A1 level. Traveling to France soon, need French for work or for personal pursuits? Beginning French teaches students to communicate immediately in Everyday Situations by learning the building blocks of the language. Students practice dialogues to introduce themselves, ask questions, make purchases, and enjoy the culture and challenges of everyday life. Use of current practical expressions, correct pronunciation and grammar, and cultural know-how are stressed. Minimum enrollment is needed for classes to run.     In-person class! This class is intended for those students who already have a good grasp of the basics and are seeking to improve their listening comprehension and conversational fluency. The short films will either be subtitled or transcribed in French and cover a range of mostly contemporary subjects. In addition to watching at home, class preparation will include comprehension and interpretive questions. Gaëlle Corvaisier will teach the last 3 weeks of class. Our classes depend upon minimum enrollment to run. (B1+ Level)

    In-person class.  This class is for advanced beginners level-A2, and will challenge students' abilities by strengthening their skills in French through proper pronunciation, and vocabulary and grammar, focusing on a communicative approach to the language. Students will strengthen their knowledge of past and future tenses, pronouns, and other finer points of the French language. Dialogues and listening activities are stressed. Students read short stories to expand their vocabulary, grammar and comprehension. This class will help students learn to enjoy and interact in the French culture, whether it be for travel, work, or personal pursuits. Our classes depend upon minimum enrollment.     Early Intermediate French B1:  Students will improve their language skills through practical dialogues that reflect everyday situations, grammar exercises, and cultural readings. Listening and proper pronunciation are stressed using dictation, videos and situational vocabulary.  This is an ongoing class. Our classes depend upon minimum enrollment.     In-Person class. This is an ongoing class for students with proficiency of A1 level curriculum.  Conversation for advanced beginners will sharpen communication skills in everyday situations, building on skills previously learned by formal studies or french immersion. Students practice dialogues, learn how to use current practical expressions, improve pronunciation and use correct grammar. Basic knowledge of common verb tenses are expected, such as the past and future tenses, as well as a good foundation of vocabulary. Mastery of French grammar is ongoing.  This class will help students learn to interact in French culture in a fun and engaging atmosphere, whether it be for travel, work, or personal enrichment.   • May 2, 9, & 16, 2026 11:00 am – 1:00 pm $120 for 3 Saturdays In-person @ AFSR, 1011 2nd St. #206, Santa Rosa Refine your accent and build confidence in speaking with our in-person French pronunciation workshop led by Valérie. Held on three consecutive Saturdays in May (5/2, 5/9 and 5/16) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, these focused sessions will help you master sounds, rhythm, and intonation in a supportive, interactive setting. Each week building on the previous one, all three Saturdays constitute the Workshop and attendance is needed for all three. Perfect for learners at any stage, this series offers a chance to tune your ear and elevate your spoken French. Registration opens April 13 alongside our Spring session, reserve your spot early!
