For May, and for music lovers, we discuss the film Aline, written by, directed by, and starring Valérie Lemercier. The movie is inspired by the life of the Canadian chanteuse immortelle, Céline Dion (called Aline Dieu in the film). We follow Aline from her kindergarten years to becoming a legend as an adult. It’s a crazy ride, and even crazier in the way Lemercier chose to tell it. The film was presented, out of competition, at the Cannes festival in 2021.
