On Wednesday December 10, the AFSR Ciné-club will present an in-person screening of the 2013 Québecois film, “The Auction” (Le démantèlement), directed by Nils Tavernier. The film is the story of a struggle to maintain a Canadian family farm through the passing of one generation to another.

Writer-director Sebastien Pilote(“The Salesman”) helms an elegantly told minimalist domestic drama set on a rural farm in Quebec. It punches the viewer in the gut with a belly full of reality, that emotionally has knock out power. Its star, playing an aging sheep farmer, Gabriel Arcand, won the best actor award at the Canadian Screen Awards.
The screening will start at 2:30 pm sharp in the Grande Salle of the Alliance at 1011 2nd Street, Suite 206, in Santa Rosa. A bilingual discussion of the film, led by Joelle Pluchon and Peter Zingg, will take place directly after, beginning at about 4:30 pm. The discussion will be in-person only.
The event is free, and snacks and beverages will be provided.
